Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival
A Seafood Celebration
The 27th Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival presented by East Cooper Medical Center and Harris Teeter is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year! The festival pays tribute to Mount Pleasant's local shrimping and fishing industry, offering a boat parade, live music, craft show and lots of free activities with the picturesque Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor for a backdrop!

Activities
Participants are treated to a boat parade and ceremonial blessing of the shrimp/fishing fleet, savory seafood samplings sold by some of Mount Pleasant's best restaurants, live music, a craft show, art exhibition, Shag and shrimp-eating contests, and family-friendly activities. Admission and activities are free!

FREE Parking & Shuttles
Two shuttle bus routes will be available offering plenty of convenient and easy offsite parking (buses will have plenty of room for loading up all your festival supplies).  Park and ride from the following locations: 
James B. Edwards Elementary - 855 Von Kolnitz Road
East Cooper Medical Center - 2000 Hospital Drive (handicapped accessible bus stops at ECMC only)
Laing Middle School - 1560 Mathis Ferry Road
Moultrie Middle School/Farmers Market Pavilion - 645 Coleman Boulevard
Cheryll Woods Flowers Sports Complex - 85 Patriots Point Boulevard

Limited parking is available at Memorial Waterfront Park.

Beneficiary
Continuing the tradition begun by the Magwood family who started the festival in 1987, every year the proceeds from the festival have been donated to local nonprofit organizations.  The 2014 beneficiaries are East Cooper Meals on Wheels and the Charleston Port & Seafarers' Society.  Other past beneficiaries include such worthy causes as East Cooper Community Outreach, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, Louie’s Kids, and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation/SC Coastal Conservation Association.

Craft Show

Stroll through the Craft Show and enjoy a variety of hand-made arts and crafts. You're sure to find plenty of unique Lowcountry creations that make great gifts for yourself or your loved ones!

If you are a crafter or artist interested in participating in the festival, submit the application before the February 28 deadline.

Restaurants & Food Vendors
Only restaurants within the Town of Mount Pleasant are allowed per Town Council mandate. Small food vendors do not have to be located within Town limits, but local vendors are given preference and all vendors must have a Town of Mount Pleasant business license.  Contact the Office of Community Development & Tourism for more information.
