  15. Town Officials Begin Public Outreach Meetings to Focus on Community Issues

    Mount Pleasant officials and staff kicked off a series of public outreach meetings at the Mount Pleasant Thomasena Stokes-Marshall Senior Services Center Tuesday. The primary purpose of these meetings is to build upon existing outreach efforts and work with citizen and civic groups to strengthen ties with the Town of Mount Pleasant.Councilmembers Thomasena Stokes-Marshall, Elton Carrier, Chris Nickels and Mark Smith met with the Mount Pleasant Senior Booster Club board members to discuss changes and challenges facing the local senior community. “With a population exceeding 75,000 residents, demands for core municipal services are growing,” said Stokes-Marshall. “Public services, fire emergency and police calls are expanding steadily. The Senior Center, with a membership of 2,800, has gained 800 senior members over the past year.
