  11. SPRING BREAK KAYAK CAMP

    On Monday and Tuesday, we will introduce campers to the sport of kayaking in the Park West Lake Pavilion pond. On Wednesday, we will venture out into the quiet “Blackwater” in the National Forest on Hug-er Creek. Bus transportation will be provided. On Thursday, we’ll explore the Saltmarshes of Shem Creek in search of dolphins! Drop off and pick up the first 3 days will be at the MPRD Park West Lake Pa-vilion. Thursday’s drop off and pick up will be at Shem Creek. Participants must bring their own snack and drink daily.

  24. ECCO's 2014 Golf Ball - the Gala

    East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) announces the return of their annual Tournament and Gala fundraiser, the Golf Ball. The two-day charity event will take place at the Daniel Island Club, with the Golf Tournament on Tuesday, April 22nd, followed by the Gala on Thursday, April 24th. The goal for the 2014 Golf Ball is to raise $180,000 from sponsorships, donations and auction sales over the two events. All proceeds will directly benefit local families in need, supporting the organization’s mission to “provide safety net services to our low-income neighbors, while empowering them to create a better future for themselves, their families and the community.” The Gala will feature a special Lowcountry menu using locally grown ingredients and attendees will enjoy live music by Permanent Vacation.   29. Shaggin' on the Cooper Dance Series Kicks Off April 26 - Mount Pleasant Pier

    Get ready for summer: Shaggin’ on the Cooper is back! This popular live beach music and shag dance event series returns April 26 to the Mount Pleasant Pier. Celebrate the arrival of warmer weather with some dancing at Shaggin’ on the Cooper! Local bands perform live at the end of the Mount Pleasant Pier throughout the season (see schedule below), and the dance floor is open for all ages. All ages are invited to bring a date or meet friends, let loose, breathe in the ocean air and dance the night away. Beverages will be available for purchase, and food will be available for sale within the Mount Pleasant Pier’s River Watch Café. Food and beverages are not included in ticket prices.     The Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival began in 1987 to support and honor local shrimpers.
